Twin Bill at the Gallery at Rockhill

January 17, 2017

Much to our delight, the works of local artists Carl Berlinger and Kim Mehler currently share our gallery’s walls.

Who are these extremely talented artists?

  • After teaching and coaching in the Upper Moreland School District for thirty-six years, Carl Berlinger began watercolor painting at the age of 58. He is currently the Tournament Director of the Professional Golfer Association’s Philadelphia Section. This is his second exhibition at the Gallery at Rockhill.
  • Kim Mehler is a watercolor artist, muralist, and educator whose work is inspired by the mystery and meaning of the natural world. Her work explores the richly layered beauty of these natural forms while contemplating the deeper meanings found in them. She is a Moore College of Art alumna, and a member of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators.

Their show will run through March 6, 2017.

Rockhill and Telford Announce the Formation of Grace Inspired Ministries

January 3, 2017

Each will retain its individual identity, while the parent company, Grace Inspired Ministries, will strengthen and support the mission of both communities.

January 3, 2017The Community at Rockhill and the Lutheran Community at Telford are pleased to announce “Grace Inspired Ministries” as the parent company name for their newly affiliated organizations. The affiliation became effective on January 1, 2017.

Together, they serve close to 800 residents, and employ over 600 team members on campuses in Sellersville and Telford, PA. Both communities have similar missions: to provide purpose, dignity, and compassion for both residents and individuals served.

“The discussion among our board members began with the desire to serve more people in our local community,” said President and CEO Dan McKee. “We wanted a name that would account for, and honor, the faith identities of both communities. ‘Grace’ seemed appropriate in describing the inspiration of this partnership. As referenced in chapter 4, verse 10, of Peter’s first letter, we are called to use the gifts we have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.”

Rockhill Executive Director Carol DeLancey added that the thought behind arriving at the new name was a community effort. “We looked for feedback from many team members and residents from each community. ‘Grace Inspired Ministries’ received very positive feedback, and was accepted unanimously by our boards.”

“This exciting announcement is occurring as we begin 2017,” said Telford Executive Director Ellen Shrager. “It’s a new year, we have a new name, and the pieces are in place for this new affiliation to make an immediate impact on those we serve now, and those we will serve in the future.”

McKee agreed, and added, “By working together through this affiliation, our opportunity to provide inspired living environments that nurture intellectual and spiritual growth, physical wellness, and emotional well-being has increased significantly. 2017 is going to be a great year for Grace Inspired Ministries.”

Affiliating Communities Receive Perfect Scores

December 2, 2016

Both the Community at Rockhill and the Lutheran Community at Telford received five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who regulate skilled nursing facilities for the Federal government.

Telford, PA, December 2, 2016The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who regulate skilled nursing facilities for the Federal government, recently released their quarterly ratings of all Medicare and Medicaid-participating nursing homes across the United States. The system is designed so that only 25% of the more than 20,000 nursing facilities in the nation receive the highest possible score of five stars out of five.

Both the Lutheran Community at Telford and the Community at Rockhill, who announced their intent to affiliate this past September, received five-star ratings.

“These perfect scores came as a result of the dedication and expert care provided by Telford and Rockhill staff members every day,” said Dan McKee, President and CEO. “They represent just a glimpse of the level of care our communities provide, and of what our current and future residents can expect from us.”

The rating is comprised of three components—results of annual surveys, staffing, and quality measure scores. To qualify for a five-star rating, a facility must have a low number of deficiencies cited during annual surveys, superior staffing data, and scores on quality measures that are higher than the majority of other skilled nursing facilities in the nation.

Executive Directors Carol DeLancey (Rockhill) and Ellen Shrager (Telford) agree on the reasons each community has improved their ratings. “We’ve had excellent annual inspections and our staffing has been exceptional,” explained DeLancey.

Shrager added, “Our focus has been on improving quality measures in every aspect of care we provide. These results reflect our hard work, and we’re extremely proud.”

“By partnering, we have created advantages that will enable both communities to improve the overall quality of services provided to our residents,” said McKee. “This is just the beginning of the many great things to come for this affiliation.”
